Translations

process investigation

This process-driven investigation questioned the relationship between a copy and the original, where in each instance of the translation, the copy became the starting point for another translation.

The exploration started with a single, manually-drawn image. Through a series of highly controlled parameters, the two-dimensional drawing was translated into three-dimensional artifacts of various material properties. These in turn were translated into two-dimensional images and drawings that gave rise to yet another series of three-dimensional objects.
